Samuel Mabala is the Country Urban Adviser working with the Cities Alliance / UNOPS based in the Uganda Country Office. He formerly served in the Government of Uganda as the Director for Housing in the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development. He attended post graduate training at the Institute of Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) of Erasmus University, and the ITC, University of Twente in the Netherlands. He graduated from the Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics, Makerere University Kampala. He has wide experience in the housing and urban development and management issues. He has been involved in policy development, project planning and management, monitoring and evaluation. Currently, he oversees the implementation of the pilot project to strengthen two cities for effective response to voluntary and involuntary migration in Uganda including the urban expansion planning in four selected newly created secondary cities
