Maurice joined Habitat for Humanity International on the 1st of February as Senior Director, Africa Hub.  He is based in Nairobi from where he leads the work in Sub-Saharan Africa.  He joined Habitat with over 20 years of experience as a strategic global nonprofit executive leader who has developed and led successful organizations in Africa. For the last nine years, he served as the East Africa Regional Director for the Ford Foundation. In that role, Maurice stewarded strategic partnerships with government, private sector and development partners as well as other constituencies. During his time at the foundation, he led the development and delivery of the Ford Foundation’s regional strategy and operating plans.

Maurice graduated from law school at the University of Nairobi and is currently enrolled in a PhD program in South Africa. Prior to joining the Ford Foundation, Maurice served as Director of the Institute for Law and Environmental Governance. He has also worked for a number of years as a senior partner at a law firm in Nairobi and with several advocacy organizations across Africa.

As Africa Hub Director, Maurice is leading the development and execution of a regional strategy to support Habitat’s Global Impact 2025 (GI-25) goal of tripling Habitat’s impact, starting within the region and then cascading that experience across other parts of Africa. Maurice provides leadership, guidance, and support for the existing Habitat network in the region – including national organizations and the Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter (TCIS) – while working with Habitat colleagues to develop new opportunities that further our impact and scale across Africa. Maurice also provides representation with the key donor, government, and development partners in Nairobi and across the region.

Last but not least, Maurice is a husband, father, son, brother, colleague, friend, and citizen of Africa
