Joanna Mazurkiewicz is an economist at the Institute for Structural Research, specializing in the economic and social effects of energy transition. Her research focuses on addressing energy poverty and social inequalities within energy transitions. Her recent projects emphasized the gender dimension of energy poverty in Poland, and the socio-economic impacts of coal phase-outs in carbon-intensive regions.

She has conducted research projects funded by the European Commission, the National Science Center, the World Bank, the European Climate Foundation, as well as projects supporting the initiatives of local governments. Joanna obtained her PhD in economics from the University of Economics in Poznan.
