Dr. Carel Cronenberg is an experienced professional in the field of climate change and development finance, currently working at the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB). With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Cronenberg has established himself as a leading expert in the implementation of climate activities and strategies within both public and private sector organizations.
As part of his current role, Dr. Cronenberg is responsible for implementing the CEBs climate roadmap, with a particular focus on the social-climate nexus and Paris alignment of the Bank’s activities. He is specifically interested in ensuring that the transition to a low-carbon economy works for all, and has been working on developing a just transition approach that considers the needs of vulnerable populations.
Dr. Cronenberg’s expertise in engineering has enabled him to lead numerous energy efficiency projects throughout his career. He has also been a member of the EU technical expert group on sustainable finance, where he contributed to the drafting of the EU taxonomy for climate mitigation activities.
In addition to his work at the Council of Europe Bank, Dr. Cronenberg works closely with other multilateral development banks (MDBs) to coordinate climate action and ensure alignment with global goals.
